Support Groups

Safety Counts

This is a program for active drug users, aiming for risk reduction and behavior change

  • The program lasts 4 months, with 1 counseling session per week.
  • The intervention is behaviorally focused, including both structured and unstructured psycho-educational activities.
  • Counseling takes place in both group and individual settings.
  • The needs of both HIV-positive and HIV-negative clients are addressed.
  • The program aims to reduce both high-risk drug use and sexual behaviors.
  • Abstinence is not the goal of safety counts: risk reduction and behavior change are the primary goals.

Women-2-Women Support Group

We are HIV+ women supporting each other. It doesn’t matter how you became infected. You have a complicated disease with a complicated treatment. Some days are really tough, and you just need another woman to talk with about what is on your mind. To listen. In confidence. We are reaching out to you to join our HIV/AIDS peer-facilitated support group specifically for WOMEN. Sessions meet twice per month during the weekend. They are on-going, so you may join at any time. A confidential intake interview is required prior to participation.

For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact Shalini Patel, Intake Coordinator, at 202-939-7671.
